The site will resemble a Monopoly board, with a company's logo one each square. The companies will sell like products, ex- Hotels and you can click a square and various information from each site will appear on the site's square. Let's say you are going to Disneyland and need to found a hotel. You could search every hotel in Anaheim that offers Disneyland Packages. You could compared prices, and waste time. With my idea all you need to do is click on a logo until you found what you need. A company's page will appear on the square. For example, what is on http://www.hojoanaheim.com/package.htm will appear on the square for Howard Johnsons and what is on http://specialoffers...m/Anaheim/index.htm? will appear on the square for Sheraton. You can compare packages at the same time without leaving our site. A company can even have their logo appear on the middle of the screen. The benefits are saving searching time and finding the best deals from auto insurance to zoo.

I thought of this idea when...
There is so much competition on the net and it can be time consuming finding the right site and if a site is on page 30 of a google search, its very unlikely it will receive many visitors. I want my site to be beneficial for both

searchers and web sites. Since there are thousands to millions of sites selling similar products, the price to have a company's logo on a square will be quite affordable and quite profitable for us. Does anyone know of a site that resembles a Monopoly board or know how to create one?

Blog Notifierhttp://www.cambrianhouse.com/idea/idea-promoter/ideas-id/kPgJSMZSubmitted by:

Adding RSS feeds to my bookmarks, is a great idea. But still I have to check the bookmark-lists if there is a new entry in a blog I want to read/follow. What I would like is a very small notifier in the bottom of my firefox screen, showing the logo (small) of the blog that has a new entry, and hiding the other ones.

With that I see in one glance, without even having to do anything, if there are new blog entrys that I want to read.

I shouldn't be to difficult to make, but the pleasure using it can be great. It saves so much time, checking all the bookmarks if there is news. With the small icons in your screen you see it imediatly. Then click the icon, and you are send directly to the article.

I thought of this idea when...
Seeing that I check my RSS feeds converted into a bookmark-list every day to see if there is news, there is a very simple rule in computing: if you have to do the same thing many times, a computer can always help.

I check my RSS feeds every day. But there is no news every day on every feed. So lets invent something to notify me which feeds have news.

Online Podcast Aggregatorhttp://www.cambrianhouse.com/idea/idea-promoter/ideas-id/K8mWwoPSubmitted by:
maarten

An online Podcast aggregator. Wouldn't it be great that wherever you are, you can connect your ipod to the Internet and download your podcasts? For example: when on holiday, it is now impossible to download my podcasts. I would love it when that would be possible. Downloading the latest podcast files from an Internet-cafe or a friends computer, without having to install iTunes. So the idea is to do this all online. Create an account, keeping an online list of what podcasts I subscribe to, dowload the latest files (podcasts) and copy them to the ipod, then deleting them from the temporary host. All information is stored on the ipod, so can be imported to the online client when creating an account, or imported from iTunes. No online diskspace is required (just a little to keep the list), podcasts are directly downloaded to the computer that has the ipod conneted to it.

I thought of this idea when...
When buying the newest ipod-touch, I was very disappointed that it couldnt download podcast, which I hoped for. The ipod-touch has Internet connection (with Wifi) and yet I couldn't download my podcasts without connecting the ipod to MY computer at home, with MY iTunes, and it is still impossible to upgrade my podcatsts somewhere else than at home. That is strange. I want to be able to upgrade at a friends home, in a hospital (!), on vacation, while away traveling for work, whatever. Just anywhere I have an Internet connection.

And if that would be possible with just the WiFi from the ipod touch, it would be even better!! (but that is step two, step one is just with a cable)

Transform a Town / Village (n...http://www.cambrianhouse.com/idea/idea-promoter/ideas-id/FJ9YtVcSubmitted by:
justicenature

Encourage people to each donate £1 towards the following:

1.Select town in an underdeveloped country (thinking of starting with small town in Ethiopia.)

2. Use funds raised to (i) encourage microfinance initiatives (i.e. lending money to individuals that can not usually borrow from a bank and charge a flat 10% interest that will be ploughed back into the organisation)(ii) transform the local school to a state of the art school.

We will aim to use as many local organisations as possible to execute this. For example there is an organisation that trains people in poverty in how to set up and run small businesses in Ethiopia

This could be successful if: 1. Ensure each person that donates £1 is kept uptodate of exactly where the money is going (through video, photos and blogs) 2. A way to ensure credibility.

3. Interactivity with donors (e.g. a microfinace activity could include making childens toys - donors could be encouraged to purchase directly from beneficiaries. 4 donor ideas

Advolution: insights into adve...http://www.cambrianhouse.com/idea/idea-promoter/ideas-id/jeld60CSubmitted by:
scrollinondubs

A web-based research tool for people in advertising that allows them to see how print ads have evolved over time. Magazine ads from past issues are scanned, catalogued and then presented in a structured format online to allow a visitor to see how the ads have changed. Lessons can then be extracted and applied to their own ads.

The premise is that advertisers will run an ad, make adjustments and iterate over time to optimize the performance. If you consider all the magazines, all the vendors, and all the experience that went into creating the ads, there is a billiion-dollar body of knowledge buried in the pages of old magazines that's waiting to be excavated by a service like this.

The service could be valuable enough to justify a subscription as the revenue model. The alternative (ironically) is that it could become ad-supported. Scale could be achieved by allowing users to scan, categorize and submit the ads and receive some portion of the revenue created from their pages.

I thought of this idea when...
We're currently researching magazine advertising for JumpBox and trying to discern what works. We've got hundreds of tech magazines splayed out on our table upstairs to look at how others do it: what ads run consistently over multiple issues and what commonalities do they share? It occurred to me that this would be way easier if someone would do the tedious legwork of scanning the ads, sorting them and making them available online so we could breeze through them.

I'd pay at least a few hundred dollars for access to a corpus of sorted ads from tech zines as it would save me hours of work gathering and hunting through paper magazines.

There are also some interesting possibilities here enabled once this body of ads exist in structured digital format. If multiple consecutive ad runs can be construed as the sign of a successful ad, then automated image analysis could yield interesting insights on things like color theory, eye tracking, etc.

We're ready to launch - perhaps today or tomorrow.

Using clubpenguin as a business model we think we have a far superior product which incidentally has a moral message and reason for involvement. Not just mindless entertainment.

I want a pair of glasses - prescription or sun glasses - that have special electronics built in. I want to reach up - touch the frame - and SEE what time it is. I call them Time Frames.

I'm sure that it would be possible to add the date as well. I also think this would be a great starter product on which you could base an entire product line. It seems like many people are striving to create helmets or special eye gear to let us see an entire computer screen - or an entire world. I think we should just start with the time and date and see where that leads.

I wear glasses all the time and would love to SEE what time it is. I think the technology exists and would be fairly easy for the right person to design.

I'm not so sure about the name. I know that some personal calendar company has a trademark on the name Time Frames. So, it will probably need a new name if the trademark office will not allow it.

So, what do you guys think?

Solar Utility using an Energy ...http://www.cambrianhouse.com/idea/idea-promoter/ideas-id/smAKdz7Submitted by:
Vancouverbluz

Create a solar electric utility in Phoenix. Phoenix is a prime location for solar, but it is totally underutilized. The placement of solar systems on peoples roofs to create an array. Thanks to energy deregulation, use of incumbent utilities lines at cost is permitted. These panels would form an energy mesh distributing the energy over the entire system thanks to advanced controllers that can communicate back to the system. Distributed solar energy over the mesh would leverage the longevity of solar systems for customer premises. An important point is that prior to a new development by a company called Sungri. This has never been feasible because of the severe thermal degradation on photovoltaic systems in the Phoenix area. Now that Sungri has released their product:

http://thefraserdoma...sungri-claims-5.html

It is entirely possible to have this type of utility.

I thought of this idea when...
Well, what inspired me was a conundrum.

It consists of this.

-Phoenix, large suburbs full of houses

-completely underutilized for solar even though highest yearly sunlight city

-how to create my own urban solar array?

Taking those 3 things, i thought having a utility that would place solar panels on peoples roofs and link those panels into an energy mesh. Energy stays within the mesh even if you go beyond your solar panels output. The energy company can negotiate energy not with the incumbent utility but with any energy supplier. I posted this in ideablob last year as well. Issues which need addressing is airconditioning which is a symmetrical drain on the grid (everyone will use it). Also night time. However any net production outside of the grid can be traded on the open market. This will be the only solar array within the city no need for energy transport!

I have devised a set of proposals of a web-site which will cover the 2008 United States Presidential Election. Basically I have outlined a web-site should be set-up which enable voters around the world (in U.S. and around the world) to cast a cyber-vote on a cyber-election, and at the same time make a donation in equal measure to their chosen candidates campaign fund, & candidates chosen charity. I would propose that as little as a dollar can be donated, with not maximum limit, and the donation proceed are divided equally between the voter chosen candidates campaign fund, and their candidates chosen charity. I would propose that “The Dollar Debate” is on-going poll in the lead-up to the Election Day, showing which candidate is the most popular in the polling. I would propose there are live statistic showing the different rates of the Democratic, Republican, & Independent candidate, the days, weeks and months leading up to election day in November 2008.

I thought of this idea when...
I thought of this Idea, several years ago, but only now in the year of the 2008 Presidential Election will people be interested in my proposed cyber-election web-site. I have a habit of going to sleep and waking up in the middle of the night with a good idea or two. I have worked in the field of innovation for several years, and I would like to prove that big business could and should work in collaberation with charitable organisations like Unicef, christian aid more pro-actively etc. Hopefully before I met my maker I will help in that cause!

AVOTARO is a way to bring a potential employee and a company together. Fictional, yet company related projects will be performed(ex- design a building using CAD) for a company via the internet. Projects will be graded by the employer and the AVOTARO staff. It will be duty of the staff at AVOTARO to study each company's portfolio and write up a project to be performed, therefore I need those that are innovative and have expertise in the jobs I listed in “idea keywords.” An A.E. may have employers bid on their work. AVOTARO's compensation will depend on the type of project, the % of the winning bid price, and when an A.E. becomes a real employee. The following is what an A.E. will receive: 1) Their own 3D virtual office and avatar. 2) Password that prevents the stealing of their ideas. 3) All the software necessary to complete a project. 4) Evaluations, comments, suggestions, and expert advice on their performance. 5) Promotional Area, including videos and a web site.

I thought of this idea when I was thinking about how hard it can be for your resume to stand out. There are 3D worlds and I thought wouldn't be great if you could use a 3d world to show potential employers what a person is truly capable of performing. The saying "Actions speak louder than words" is so true. How can you truly demonstrate your talents on paper? There are those that freeze up during an interview which can decrease their chance of landing a job where they are the "perfect fit." I know there are web sites where job seekers can submit their work to potential employers. However, my idea is to have each AVOTORO employee be given individual projects to perform and to receive feedback. This should be a learning experience, because of the evaluations, comments, suggestions, and expert advice they will receive from those expert in the field of their dreams

Facebook Medical HealthVaulthttp://www.cambrianhouse.com/idea/idea-promoter/ideas-id/bUdBP9DSubmitted by:
cRitter

The Facebook Medical HealthVault is an application for Facebook which stores and protects a user's health information to share with trusted organizations. Such health information would include their medical history, prescriptions, surgeries, and hospitalizations, as well as their optical and dental details.

The HealthVault would also allow organizations to send updated health information to the user in order to update their medical profile. This would enable members to manage their health care, while retaining ultimate control over who accesses their information, and when to restrict it (READ: insurance agencies!!!)

The Facebook Medical HealthVault would require the development of a host site to securely store and display the sensitive data through the Facebook API. We should also come up with a better name than HealthVault as this clearly infringes upon a Microsoft Trademark! (Maybe we should follow Google's example and simply call it Facebook Health?)

I thought of this idea when...
By day, I work as a user experience designer at a medical management company that is currently building a "next generation" / "social network" for the medical community. We're strictly focused on the nurses and doctors, but we rely on the most up-to-date member information to make the right decisions for the patients. At the moment we're building "patient profiles" which will initially be edited by doctors and nurses, but ultimately will connect with external sources such as Microsoft HealthVault and Google Health.

The point is that we're not looking to create a patient profile, and Facebook is an excellent way for people to manage their profiles! As I understand it, the Facebook API merely displays information from other sites on their own. This would allow the host site to hook into other sites such as MySpace and Ning, or any other social network which allows developers to create custom applications. With all the money the big boys are putting into it, this is a clearly a good opp.

landsky

I just want ideas on this. I've done some research and it seems a lot of people are working on it. My original thought was placing a GPS device in a golf ball so a player can find it in the rough. GPS could put you within a meter.

But there are more complex uses for inbounds tennis balls, pucks crossing the posts, foot balls crossing the goal line or goal posts, foul balls. It is certainly a coming thing.

But you have to combine a Satellite, a GPS monitor, and the third element, the imbedded device. The latter has to take a lot of punishment without disrupting the play of the puck or ball. For hockey, this could really be a revival of the sport in the States " I mean, the “blue streak” puck was a failed experiment but in the right direction. GPS at the moment can’t pinpoint goals but what about if the “satellite” were positioned above center ice? Could it pinpoint a goal?

Any ideas on this? More out of curiosity than anything. Food for thought.

Lazy Uncle Present Buying for ...http://www.cambrianhouse.com/idea/idea-promoter/ideas-id/Q6eA62VSubmitted by:
jim_lewis

None of us have enough time and unfortunately it's our families that lose out most often.

This site enables kind-hearted uncles to meet their present buying obligations to their nieces and nephews with minimum effort.

An uncle signs on to the site, submitting the names of his nieces and nephews, their birthdays and addresses as well as the amount he wants to spend on any given child.

The nieces and nephews, (with the help of mum and dad for young kids), visit sites affiliated to LazyUncle.com that uncle has sanctioned, (no inaproppriate gifts!), EG ToyzRUs, etc., and select the toy or gift they would like to receive. (limited by the money limit the uncle sets).

Their birthday rolls around and the gift is automatically dispatched, along with a personalised card from their thoughtful, but lazy, uncle.

This done the money is debited from his acount when transactions are processed.

I thought of this idea when...
A friend of mine is uncle to so many nieces and nephews he simply can't cope with the present buying.

Kids usually know what they want better than adults anyway, at least this way they get a gift they like instead of what you thought they liked, (and went off 6 months ago).

Yes, it is a little bit impersonal, but a tangible gift still means they know you exist if you don't get to see them much.
