Transform your ideas into a reality
Have an idea? Want to collaborate with someone to help your software ideas come to fruition? The Cambrian House collaborates with visionaries to develop new software products required in today’s world. “Cambrian House wants to work with the visionaries of the world to assist them in transforming their software ideas into tangible software products”, says Michael J. Sikorsky, CEO and founder of Cambrian House. The Cambrian House is the leader in consumer driven software and its mantra is “You think it, crowds test it, crowds build it, we sell it, you profit”.
What is Cambrian House?
Michael J. Sikorsky, CEO and founder, opened the doors of The Cambrian House Inc. February 1, 2006. This privately held software development firm based out of Calgary, Canada specializes in developing and marketing mass-market software. Cambrian House accepts and tests ideas acquired from visionaries and external contributors prior to investing copious amounts of time and money into them. With the use of online market testing, Cambrian House objectively determines if an idea should be built or be terminated at conception.
Since its inception, Cambrian House has created, tested and launched two online software products: Prezzle and Adword Alerts. Each product idea was submitted by a visionary, tested online, developed based on market demand and launched into the online market. All Cambrian House products are sold online and currently live products can be found on www.prezzle.com and www.adwordalerts.com. Visit www.cambrianhouse.com for more information.
How it works
Cambrian House firmly believes that it should be software users who dictate what kind of software is created and launched into the market. “We want ideas from everyone whether they be entrepreneurs, students or anything in between”, says Sikorsky. The way it works is simple: visionaries submit software ideas to Cambrian House; these ideas are market tested online; successful ideas are developed into tangible software products (during the development process, external contributors are welcome to submit “improvement ideas” to the products underway); finalized products are sold online. This process enables Cambrian House to actively build and embrace a community of users who work together to create consumer driven software.
Cambrian House DOES NOT steal ideas, nor do they profit from visionaries or external contributors. Cambrian House wants everyone involved in the software development process to prosper, from idea inception to online product sales. As a way to encourage people to submit ideas and contribute to products already under development, Cambrian House has come up with Royalty Points, a system that awards and compensates individuals for their contributions.
What is a Royalty Point?
This unique system attributes Royalty Points to visionaries and external contributors. These points are how Cambrian House compensates these visionaries for their input by ensuring a fair payment methodology for launched software products. Furthermore, the Royalty Points system awards a recurring revenue stream for an individual’s involvement. Visionaries get awarded for an initial contribution and external contributors are awarded points for their input to a product under development.
Royalty Points are converted into cash rewards once a product becomes profitable and are consistently awarded as long as the software experiences a continuing success in the online market. The more profit a product makes once launched into the online market, the more profit for the visionary and the external contributor(s).
Why “Cambrian House”?
Cambrian House derives its name from the Cambrian Era. The Cambrian Period marked one of the most explosive times in the history of life on earth. It was a time when most of the major species came into existence and only the strong and most evolved survived. As with the Cambrian Era, the Cambrian House has done the same for software in the past few months and plans to do so in upcoming years. Good and bad software ideas emerge and are tested: only the strong ideas will survive long enough to be launched into the market.
