This is a website where programmers get better at programming. This website is nothing like TopCoder. People on Programmer Challenge have programming challenges starting at any level they want, from beginner to expert level. Users on the website start programming challenges. To start a programming challenge the user on the website makes their program. They then upload the program to the website for somebody to challenge. The user that submits the program will rate level of hardness of the challenge it was to program. Then users vote on the person that rated the program’s hardness, they decide if the program was easy or hard to program or not. Then somebody can come along and challenge that particular program. Users will rate the person that challenges the particular program by scoring their results. The users on the website will gain points every time they challenge somebody and when they create a challenge. The website will have a points ladder of all the best programmers. Are you?
When I was wanting to improve my programming skills by programming example programs on the internet.
I like your idea. Here's something I thought up that might be an addition to your programming skills idea. How about a relay programming game, where the first programmer writes up the first 5 lines of text, then the second person continues with the next 5 lines, and so forth.
How will your idea generate revenue? Will the programmers sell their programs?
headofideas, I really don't know about the relay programming game, but my site would make money off of ads. The programmers will not sell their programs or apps. I think this idea has some potential, it just needs somebody to build it.
I would spice it up adding real life context to the challenges. I would get sponsors from big IT companies and get them define some ultimate challenges that would actually pay "the winner"... other challenges might get a boost in participation if they would be real life problems/challenges. Like the idea.
HerraHuu, I do like the idea.
Relay? How about a collab? An online IDE, a simple one. Like those real-time web IDEs; you have it on the site where the participants sign up and can enter an ongoing project/challenge.
That would be pretty neat I think. I never thought of that.
