The Elevator Pitch

For People who communicate via the web who use namecards in a networking event the ShrtCard is a Code printed on your name card that allows your recipents to easily add your contact to their database. Unlike facebook our product lets people view your contact without being your friend.

The Idea

Business Cards have a lot of information now a days. People's contact and interest are listed in multiple profiles across the internet. We have a ton of ways for someone to contact us(IM, Phone, Emails, Social networks etc)

ShrtCards provides you a simple contact page that you maintain.

When you pass out business cards with the ShrtCard code, the recievers can just go online and enter www.ShrtCard/XXXXX to see your contact details.

AS a user, you can enter someone' ShrtCard and easily save their contact to outlook and mobile phone.

ShrtCard is not searchable nor indexable so only people with the ShrtCard Code can see your contact.

On the ShrtCard Contact Card, you can import the contact to various contact managers (outlook, gmail etc)

I thought of this idea when I was...

Trying to design a simple name card with just my name and my website where users can find the ways to contact me.

This is a pretty good idea. Although, I do believe that the physical card you'll be passing around should still contain basic information. The main differentiation should be an easy export button of some sorts in which the contact information will be automatically imported into contact manager of choice.

Also, think about this scenario: what if I attended a seminar and networked? I came home with 50 ShrtCards with me and I want to email them. Is there any way I can shorten the process of getting those email addresses etc. onto Outlook?

I like it!
you can add one of this new 2d codes (http://2d-code.co.uk/) so your cell phone or webcam will open the information and maybe even send it to your outlook.

Simple, elegant solution to a stated problem. What's the next step? Have you thought out execution and deployment?

As an afterthought, I don't like the "ShrtCards" name - omitting a single letter doesn't really shorten the name enough to represent the concept, and when I first saw the name, I wasn't sure if it meant "short" cards or "shirt" cards.

Ok so I know this is a bit off point but.. So I read Ybothers' idea and thought of a large scope use of the Shrtcard idea. Here we go, instead of ShrtCard/xxxxx why not have a USB "data Scnnr" that can only read the barcode that is printed on the Business card or (here is the big thought I had) in magazines near the business name this will be in the form of a url. It can be made to be small and noninttrusive. People can take these home and plug them into their computers and have this information at their disposal via notepad clickable link Excel or what ever method is later agreed upon.
Maybe I got way off base here but either way I think it sounds good.
